Sunrise at the Inner Harbour!
This being our first year in Victoria, my wife and I decided to attend our church’s Sunrise Service at the Inner Harbour as part of the Easter Sunday celebrations. We got up at 5:30 AM and drove down to participate in the hour-long service. The significance of this gathering is to recreate in our minds and express in our hearts the spiritual impact of that first resurrection morning over two thousand years ago outside the city walls of Jerusalem. Our Christian faith is anchored in that moment when Jesus rose from the grave, as foretold in Scripture, to show the world that he had conquered the power of death and sin once and for all. Out of the truth of that one miraculous event comes our assurance of faith that we, too, who believe in Him, can experience that new life. The setting for this meeting was stunning with the light of the rising sun from behind the Empress Hotel slowly bathing the inner harbour with a reflected glow of warmth and clarity. It was good to be amongst friends - with a coffee and doughnut in hand - for such a wonderful occasion as this. It was so good that I have no hesitancy in saying we’ll be back next year(DV).
